Nature Meetup in Spring Hill, FL

John Muir

Spring Hill Nature Meetup

Many people are looking for a simple way to get outside, meet others, and reconnect with nature. This meetup is for those who enjoy nature walks and want something a little deeper than just a typical hike — without anything overly structured or forced. It’s a space for people who feel better in nature, are curious about that connection, and are interested in spending time with others who feel the same. This is a nature meetup based in the Spring Hill, Florida area, focused on outdoor gatherings, walking local trails, and spending time outdoors with others.

What This Meetup Is

What This Meetup Is

What This Meetup Is

A lush green forest path surrounded by tall trees and ferns.

This meetup is centered around relaxed, nature-based gatherings that emphasize outdoor experiences. Most events feature nature walks along local trails, with some being shorter strolls and others longer Spring Hill hiking adventures, depending on the specific event. Along the way, there’s space for casual conversation, quiet moments, and simply enjoying the beauty of being outside.

There’s no formal structure or expectation. Nothing is being taught or performed — it’s just time spent in nature with others who appreciate the outdoors.

If reflection occurs, it happens naturally. There’s no pressure to participate in any particular way — you can talk, listen, or just walk and take it all in.

What To Expect

What This Meetup Is

What This Meetup Is

Each meetup for our nature walks takes place on a local trail in Spring Hill and the surrounding areas. Depending on the event, this may be a shorter walk or a longer hike, with the distance noted ahead of time.

We start by gathering briefly for our outdoor gatherings, then head out onto the trail at a comfortable, steady pace. Conversation tends to happen naturally as we walk, and there’s always the option to simply listen or take in the beautiful surroundings.

There may be a few natural pauses along the way — to rest, look around, or take a moment — but there’s no structured program or guided instruction.

Overall, it’s a simple format: meet up, walk, enjoy Spring Hill hiking, spend time outdoors, and head back.

The Approach

The approach here is simple and grounded. We’re not here to perform rituals or follow a set practice. The focus is simply on enjoying nature walks and spending time in the great outdoors, paying attention to what’s around us. This might mean noticing sounds, movement, light, or details that are easy to overlook when moving quickly or distracted during outdoor gatherings. It’s less about adding meaning to the experience and more about allowing it to reveal itself naturally. There’s no expectation to think or feel a certain way. Everyone can take the experience at their own pace, in their own way, whether it’s during Spring Hill hiking or another serene setting. The idea is not to guide nature, but to spend time in it — and let that be enough.

Types Of Meetups

We host a variety of outdoor gatherings, depending on the setting and time of year.

Nature Walks: These are slower, more relaxed nature walks on local trails. The focus is on being outside, taking in the surroundings, and keeping things easy and accessible.

Longer Hikes: These involve more distance and a steady pace. They’re still grounded in the same idea of being present in nature, particularly during our Spring Hill hiking events, but with a bit more physical movement and time on the trail.

Occasional Reflection-Based Gatherings: From time to time, we may include simple moments of reflection or quiet awareness during our outdoor gatherings. These are not structured or guided in a formal way — just opportunities to pause and take in the environment a little more intentionally.

Locations We Explore

Our outdoor gatherings take place across a range of local trails and natural areas throughout Pasco and Hernando County. We regularly explore places like Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park, Serenova Tract, Crew Lake Wilderness Park, and McKethan Lake Nature Park for our nature walks. Most gatherings are held in and around: Spring Hill, New Port Richey, Land O’ Lakes, and Brooksville. Locations may vary from event to event, but all are chosen for their accessibility, natural setting, and ability to offer a quiet, outdoor experience. These are some of the most accessible and well-known hiking and nature areas in the Spring Hill hiking and Pasco County region.

Who This Is For

This meetup is for people who enjoy being outdoors and want a simple, grounded way to spend more time in nature through nature walks.

It’s a good fit for those who are looking for something a little deeper than just a typical hike, such as Spring Hill hiking, but without anything overly structured or abstract.

You don’t need any experience with mindfulness or spirituality — just a general curiosity about nature, awareness, or connection, and an openness to being outside with others during outdoor gatherings.

It’s especially suited for people who prefer things to feel natural and relaxed, rather than guided, performative, or 'out there.'

What This Is Not

This isn’t a class or a workshop, and there’s nothing being formally taught. It’s not a lecture or a structured program, and there’s no expectation to follow a specific set of ideas or beliefs. There’s no heavy or dogmatic approach, and nothing overly spiritual or performative. It’s simply a group of people engaging in nature walks and outdoor gatherings — walking, observing, and experiencing the beauty of Spring Hill hiking in a straightforward, grounded way.

How It Connects to a Bigger Idea

These outdoor gatherings are part of a broader exploration around reconnecting with the natural world and understanding our relationship to it through nature walks. For some, it’s simply a chance to get outside more often. For others, it opens up a deeper curiosity about awareness, presence, and how being in nature, such as during Spring Hill hiking, affects the way we think and feel. There’s no requirement to engage with this beyond the walk itself, but for those interested, more of these ideas are explored through The Holy Spring.

FAQs

Common Questions

Do I need any experience to join?

No. There’s nothing you need to know ahead of time — just come as you are. If you can walk a trail and enjoy being outside, you’ll fit in.

Is this just a hiking group?

Not exactly. While we do walk and hike, the focus is a bit broader — spending time in nature through our nature walks, slowing down, and connecting with the environment and each other in a simple, relaxed way.

How long are the walks or hikes?

It depends on the event. Some are shorter, relaxed nature walks, while others are longer Spring Hill hiking trips. The general distance and pace are usually outlined ahead of time.

That said, there’s often some flexibility during the meetup itself — the group may adjust the pace, route, or length slightly depending on how things feel.

Where do you usually meet?

Most outdoor gatherings take place around Spring Hill, New Port Richey, Land O’ Lakes, and Brooksville, using local parks and trail systems.

Do I have to talk or participate in anything?

Not at all. Some people come for conversation, others just to walk quietly and take in the surroundings. There’s no pressure to interact in any particular way.

Is this a religious group?

These meetups are connected to The Holy Spring, which has a nature-based focus, but they are not structured as a traditional religious gathering. There’s no doctrine, teaching, or required beliefs.

The focus is simply on spending time in nature in a relaxed and grounded way.

Is it okay if I’m new or unsure?

Yes. Most people who attend are trying something new and aren’t exactly sure what to expect. That’s completely normal.

What should I bring?

Basic outdoor essentials:

comfortable walking shoes, water, weather-appropriate clothing, some bring a small backpack for toiletries or snacks.

That’s usually all you need.

Do you do things like foraging or plant identification?

Occasionally, we may notice or talk about aspects of the environment, but the focus is not on instruction or teaching. The experience stays simple and unstructured.

How do I join an event?

All events are organized through Meetup. You can view upcoming meetups and RSVP through the link above.

If you have other questions, feel free to reach out — or just come to a meetup and see what it’s like for yourself.
